I’ve always loved the sound of a violin…I find it to be very beautiful yet mysterious. It shoots right through my heart, bringing peace and joy to me.
When I was about 6 years old, I heard a friend of mine practicing violin. She was really skilled, and her body looked like an extension of her instrument. I then became obsessed with idea of violin and asked my parents if I could pick up that instrument.
We went to see a few teachers, who said that it was too late to start. I was devastated; my heart was broken, but I continued playing piano and started dreaming of becoming a teacher who will inspire students to believe that they can start playing any instrument at any age. I don’t believe in myths about “right or wrong” fingers, less or more ability to learn, and all other limitations that certain teachers put on their students.
From my experience, there is NO advantage of learning as a kid vs learning as an adult.
There are just a few elements that stand in the way of just doing it, which are:
- Finding time
- Truly committing to it
- Fear. Of making a mistake, wasting time, you name it…
Do you want to learn how to play the piano? Just go for it! Find an instructor, who will find 101 reasons why you CAN do it, rather than why you can not.
I believe you CAN, and I know you WILL make your dream come true.
